Heat Engineer Software

Aiding surveyors and engineers in the heating industry with precision and expertise.

The Software

Accurate heat loss calculations are essential before installing any heating system—whether it's a renewable energy solution or a conventional fossil fuel boiler. Plumbers and heating engineers must perform detailed, room-by-room assessments to meet Part L building regulations and, for heat pumps, to comply with the Microgeneration Certification Scheme.

Streamlined Tools for Professionals

Heat Engineer software offers versatile tools to simplify this process:

  • Mobile and Tablet Applications: Conduct surveys on the go with our user-friendly apps.
  • CAD Measuring Desktop Software: Utilise precise measurements for detailed assessments.
  • 3D Scanning: Perform comprehensive surveys using Magicplan 3D scanning technology.

Surveys completed within the mobile app are seamlessly synced to the online Heat Engineer platform, allowing professionals to process calculations and generate comprehensive reports for property owners.

Our Purpose

At Heat Engineer, we recognise the crucial importance of conducting detailed, room-by-room heat loss calculations before installing any heating system—be it a renewable energy solution or a conventional fossil fuel boiler.

These calculations are essential for determining the optimal emitter size for each room (including radiators, fan convectors, fan coil units, and underfloor heating pipe centers) and for specifying the overall power output (kW) required for heat pumps, biomass systems, or conventional fossil boilers.

Our Mission

Our mission is to empower plumbers, heating engineers, and designers with accurate tools and resources to ensure every heating system is tailored for maximum efficiency and performance. By providing comprehensive software solutions, we help professionals deliver well-designed heating systems that meet the specific needs of every property owner.

Mission Statements

User Friendly Service

Provide a user friendly service which is intuitively easy to use and understand.

Training Programs

Welcome and provide trainee and experienced plumbers and engineers to uptake our training programs, gaining knowledge and confidence via online and mobile applications.

Support BIM Industry

Support the Building information modelling (BIM) industry using standardisation and facilitating sustainability and environmental opportunities and solutions.

Heat Decarbonisation

Supporting 'The Future of Heat Decarbonisation' for Clean Growth.

Standards

The methods used in our calculations are from the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) The Domestic Heating Design Guide and EN 12831. The UK standards for MCS MIS 3005 and MIS 3004 have also been met ensuring heat pumps and Biomass calculations can be presented.

More information DIN/TS 12831-1:2020-04

This document regulates the application of both the detailed procedure according to DIN EN 12831-1:2017-09, Section 6 and the simplified procedure according to DIN EN 12831-1:2017-09, Section 7 and Section 8. In addition, in Section 7 of this document describes another method for roughly determining the building heating load from heat quantity or consumption measurements.

Please note: Heat Engineer Software Ltd has historically used BS EN 12831-1:2017 which is similar to DIN EN 12831-1:2017-09. We have reviewed the additional document DIN/TS 12831-1:2020-04 and to ensure the software accommodates for Germany we have used the supplement National data. This ensures the correct external design temperature and ground temperature is assigned correctly to Germany's post codes. The software does not use the method using the building heating load from heat quantity or consumption measurements. We use simplified procedure according to DIN EN 12831-1:2017-09, Section 7 and Section 8.
